Our history in international eye care

Victoria Vision Eye Care has been involved in international eye care since 1993. Our Doctors have participated in optometric missions to Benin, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Guatemala.  Over the years, we have provided supported eye care  projects through Iris Mundial, the Lions, Optometry Giving Sight and Rotary.

Since 2007, Victoria Vision Eye Care has focused on supporting Optometry Giving Sight.  Optometry Giving Sight funds the development of sustainable eye care in communities where it does not currently exist or those that are seriously under-served. They focus on projects that develop local infrastructure; provide skills development and training opportunities for locals to train as degree qualified optometrists and optometric technicians.

How we raise support:

  • We donate $5 to Optometry Giving Sight for every eyeglass frame sold.  Each donation provides one eye examination and set of eyeglasses to a person in a developing country.
  • Every year we donate examination fees from one day of practice as part of the World Sight Day Challenge.  Optometry Giving Sight uses these funds to train local providers and develop infrastructure so that entire communities will continue to have access to eye care.
  • We have used books available for a donation in our waiting area.  Every year funds from our book sale go to supporting the efforts of Optometry Giving Sight.
